This week we get to know our Operations and Project Analyst, Tinique Kluyts. We asked her a few questions regarding her career and the expertise she brings to Pembury Partners.
Tell us a brief history of your career until this point.
I began my working life in a small coastal city in South Africa, running a successful private nursery for a number of years before migrating to hospitality – a sector that always fascinated me. Being a General Manager for a busy restaurant fueled my passion for all things hospitality-related.
Prior to relocating to the UK in early 2019, I connected with Darren and discussed a career in hospitality selection, which become a reality once I settled in London. Post-Covid19 and after a brief stint in the education sector at one of London’s leading schools, I rejoined Darren and Elvie here at Pembury Partners focusing on executive search for international private households.
What are the main differences you find between the corporate hospitality sector and private households?
I find the private household sector requires a more personal and intimate approach than the corporate world. As important as building relationships are across all industries, within projects and executive search I feel my involvement definitely has more of a pastoral and dedicated aspect to it. I am working within the infrastructure of someone’s private home, their own private sanctuary and retreat: is there anything more personal and sacred?
What is your role at Pembury?
My main focus is that of a relationship builder. As mentioned previously, we value relationships with our professionals and clients alike as well as relationships within our company.
I find it so important when working closely with team members, professionals and clients, to have built up a level of trust and established good synergy.
I also closely assist both directors in all operations within the company. I am the ultimate facilitator!
What is the ethos you operate by?
I am passionate about managing my role to the best of my ability and believe this pays off in the quality of my work. I don’t believe in switching off at a certain time as I feel this industry is a lifestyle, and it’s constantly growing and evolving, and relationships are being built and maintained at all times.
We value doing project based work and targeted executive search rather than standard run-of-the-mill recruitment, and this requires a level of passion and dedication that doesn’t switch off.
What do you enjoy the most about your role at Pembury?
I enjoy the level of team spirit we have within the company and appreciate having strong relationships with the team. I feel that a positive work environment is incredibly conducive to being productive and creating job satisfaction.
